Hello lovies!
Today I wanted to talk a little bit about natural products. I have been doing a lot of research on the use of body washes, lotions, and deodorants and the studies that have been found linking the ingredients in these everyday products to serious health issues. To say I was shocked by the facts would be an understatement. Parabens and phthalates are two of the more known and debatable ingredients in beauty products and have been linked to increased risk of breast cancer and fertility problems.
Now, I have some good news!! There are surprisingly a lot of natural products available that are fairly inexpensive. A lot of them arguably work better than their chemical-induced counter parts. In looking at natural options I found that a lot of labels are 99% organic or 97% natural. There are definitely 100% organic products out there, you just have to look a little harder.
In my switch (which is ungoing) to natural products I found that my face was not so eager to accept natural products. I'm not sure what it is about my face but it is REALLY sensitive so I have yet to switch to "completely" natural because I need to find a product that works well with my sensitive skin. So, I wanted to share some of my favorites with you guys, especially if you are thinking of switching to a natural regimen. Now there are some brands that have a mostly natural line of products such as Burt's Bees and Yes to Carrots and both of these lines can be found in local drug stores.
My top three picks:
1. Weleda skin food
2. SheaMoisture Olive and Green Tea Body Scrub
Exfoliating your skin regularly is really important and this is by far one of my favorite products. Its a gentle scrub but instantly reveals healthy younger looking skin.
3. Burt's Bees Extra Energizing Citrus and Ginger Body Wash
What I love about this body wash the most is the smell! I thought switching to natural products would mean that everything would smell natural. But this fresh citrus smell is perfect!
So, there you have it. My three favorite natural body products. Let me know what you guys think!
Kisses, Shavon
I never knew Shea Moisture did body scrubs. I currently use their hair products for my hair and I love it. I never knew they had such a variety of other things. I like Lush products as well though they're a little bit more pricey. I enjoy using their products it's a treat every now and then.
ReplyDeleteI have heard a lot of great things about Lush so those are next on my list to try out ;)
DeleteThanks for sharing! I love trying out natural products!
ReplyDeleteThank you~ I too have been looking for natural products and reading ingredients. THanks for the list!
ReplyDeleteOf course!! Let me know some of your favorites when you find some
DeleteI just started really paying attention to this after having suffered migraines for years with no real luck on conventional medicines. My friend sent me some stuff to try that is natural and during a bad cluster I gave it a shot. What do you know? Apparently, the people back in the day knew a thing or two about how to treat without major drug companies.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it helped!! I didn't realize non-natural products could cause migraines but it certainly makes sense! Maybe on this one, we shouldn't have reinvented the wheel and stuck with natural haha.
DeleteAll of these sound awesome! :D I especially love the sound of that body wash. Much love for citrus + ginger!
ReplyDeleteLike another reader said, I also really like Lush products, but my goodness, it gets so expensive. ;_;
The body wash smells delicious and its not overkill!! I would definitely give it a try :)
DeleteI love Burt's Bees and will have to try this bodywash. Citrus is always so invigorating.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a new body cream because my skin is super dry. I'm going to check out the Weleda Skin Food...thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteIt's great!! It's a really rich cream so I mix it with olive oil sometimes and it leaves my skin nicely moisturized.
